After another year of growth, One Essex Court has reduced its chambers contributions from 12.1 per cent to 10.8 per cent. Although the cost of running the set has not changed, RPB and turnover are both up by 6 per cent to £537,000 and £29m respectively, enabling the reduction.
Unusually for a modern set of chambers, One Essex Court has no door tenants. Its silk-junior ratio is a comfortable 1:3, although this will rise in October with the appointment of three new QCs.
The set continues to appear on large cases, although 2005 proved quiet in terms of House of Lords appearances. Ian Glick QC was involved in both the cases that did reach the Lords. Other cases included Peter Leaver QC and Laurence Rabinowitz's involvement in the Equitable Life case, which ended in September 2005. |
