South East firm Penningtons had a steady 2004-
05, with the firm's property, commercial, IP and
IT practices assisting it to increase turnover by a
marginal £2.4m to £25.9m.
However, investment in premises in Newbury
and Godalming, combined with an increase in the
firm's partnership (which included the hire of new
head of immigration Philip Barth from Mishcon
de Reya), meant that the firm was unable to achieve
a corresponding increase in average PEP.
Instead, PEP dipped by a rather dramatic 9 per
cent to reach the lowly figure of £125,000.
