Browne Jacobson reported a record 37.4 per
cent increase in average PEP last year, from £230,000
to £316,000, along with a 12 per cent rise in turnover
to £27m from £24.1m.
The firm's growth was driven by a particularly
good year in Birmingham, where revenue grew 27
per cent. It opened in the city in 1999 but has really
started to motor during the last year following the
recruitment of a corporate team from Hammonds
two years ago. The firm hopes for yet more growth
in Birmingham as it has doubled the number of
partners in the office to 10 during the last year.
Browne Jacobson continues to have particular
strength in the public sector, which accounts for
around half of its revenue. The commercial business
is strong in the insurance sector, with clients
such as Hiscox, Norwich Union and St Paul's.
