Thomas Eggar became the envy of the South
East in 2003-04 after it posted a 32 per cent rise in
PEP. Last year its figures were more modest, but
they remain at levels that would satisfy most firms.
Average PEP increased by 9.8 per cent to
£235,000, while turnover rose more modestly to
£27.8m, an increase of 2.5 per cent. Property is the
firm's largest single practice area, accounting for
nearly a quarter of gross revenues.
The firm has sought to centralise it operations
over the past year, relocating a third of its lawyers
to Crawley and shutting offices in Horsham and
Reigate. Thomas Eggar's partnership also shrank
during the year, dropping by three to 54.
