Clarke Wilmott continued its expansion over
the last year, during which revenues climbed more
than 25 per cent to £33.6m. PEP also rose by 25 per
cent to £215,000.
In August 2004, the firm gained a foothold in
Birmingham with the acquisition of a four-partner
office of personal injury firm Amery Parkes, while
in February 2005, it secured housebuilding expertise
in the Midlands after acquiring £1.4m turnover
firm Vernon & Shakespeare. Managing partner
David Sedgwick predicts that, within five years, the
Birmingham office will be the firm's largest. Growth
this year is budgeted at 25 per cent, with 10 per
cent coming through more acquisitions.
Property in its broadest sense, including construction
litigation, housebuilding and PFI, contributes
the greatest proportion to total turnover,
accounting for around 33 per cent of revenues.
