There is an element of change in the air at
Beachcroft Wansbroughs. New managing partner
Paul Murray takes over from Bob Heslett in May
2006, while Simon Hodson will replace David Hunt
(Lord Hunt of Wirral) as the firm's senior partner.
While remaining principally a litigation practice,
with well over 50 per cent of revenue from
contentious work, Beachcrofts' non-contentious
practices are providing solid back-up. Murray's aim
will be to keep growing the non-contentious areas
while maintaining Beachcrofts' traditional strengths.
The firm has a growing financial services team,
which provides regulatory advice to clients. Health
sector instructions are also increasing. Corporate
accounts for 25 per cent of fee income, with property
chipping in 14 per cent.
Last year Beachcrofts' overall turnover rose 9.5
per cent to £89.7m, while PEP remained steady at
£250,000. Two-thirds of the partners are full equity,
but there are only 20 female equity partners. However,
the firm highlights the opportunities for parttime
working, but there is still room for improvement.
