For the first time in seven years, Wedlake Bell has
posted all but flat revenue figures. Gross fees inched
up to £16.8m compared to £16.6m in 2004, while
the average PEP figure fell by 8 per cent.
The combination of its move to larger premises
in June 2004, with annual rent now up by 30 per
cent, and the timing of various transactions account
for these disappointing results as the corporate,
commercial and private client departments all
recorded good results.
In May Wedlake Bell strengthened its private
client practice by merging with two-partner boutique
Beattie &Co, bringing the total number of
private specialists to 14, including six partners.
