WHITE & CASE'S London office posted an
astonishing 73.9 per cent PEP increase last
year, from $575,000 (£313,900) in 2003 to
$1m (£546,000) in 2004. Turnover also rose
by an impressive 42.3 per cent, from $71.7m
(£39.1m) to $102m (£55.7m).
Every one of the London office's five practice
groups ± bank finance; dispute resolution;
energy, infrastructure, project and asset finance;
capital markets; and corporate ± posted a
revenue increase of at least 20 per cent, while
the banking and project finance groups
reported phenomenal 76 per cent revenue
increases.
The firm attributed the stellar results to sound
practice management. London partner
numbers rose from 41 in 2003 to 48 in 2004,
including two new equity partners.
The firm concluded a thorough overhaul of
its remuneration structure to inject a stronger
merit element into partner pay. The new system
is comprised of four stages of career progression
with 17 rungs, and is designed to allow for
more flexibility in the lockstep and, in
particular, more flexibility in remunerating
partners in less profitable offices. |
