Revenue was up a touch at McDermott
Will & Emery's London office as the Chicago
firm spent much of the year knitting together
its various European offices ± the Carnelutti
merger and the two German offices in
Munich and Düsseldorf being the key areas
of interest.
Corporate, which includes banking and
private equity, dominates the firm, accounting
for 50 per cent of revenue. McDermott
has built up a solid midcap client base, with
names such as Numis and Collins Stewart on
the roster alongside Merrill Lynch, Kvaerner
and Dresdner Kleinwort Wasserstein.
There were a couple of significant hires in
2004, including that of Michael McFall from
Dorsey & Whitney to bolster the corporate
team. Employment and benefits made up 20
per cent of turnover, with IP at 15 per cent,
tax at 10 per cent and litigation at 5 per cent. |
