20 ESSEX STREET had a static year in financial
terms. But the set, led by Iain Milligan QC, had a good year work-wise with six House
of Lords appearances and 80 Court of Appeal
visits.
A range of cases saw the set involved in
multibillion-pound claims for negligence as
Milligan launched Equitable Life's case against
Ernst & Young. Billions were also at stake as
Richard Plender QC acted for the Inland
Revenue in its European Court of Justice tax
dispute with Marks & Spencer ± a final
decision is still awaited. And Stephen Morris
QC scored a victory for the Office of Fair Trading
in the replica football shirts row. |
