United Broadcasting & Entertainment's (UBE) general counsel is quitting to join Carlton.
Stephen Rudoff, who is also head of legal, business affairs and compliance, joined UBE six years ago from London Weekend Television, but will move to Carlton to focus solely on compliance.
Unlike UBE, Carlton does not have a centralised in-house department. The function is loosely split into three groups - legal, business affairs and compliance.
Rudoff will head the five-strong compliance team. "It's an exciting opportunity to concentrate on the area that I find most stimulating," he says, adding that it is too early to comment on any changes to the department and its external advisers.
But he concedes: "There are people I know and have worked with. Carlton will have others, but I'm open-minded to the way forward."
UBE represents United News and Media's (UNM) television interests, servicing around 20 companies for the company, including the Anglia and Meridian ITV franchises.
