Fledgling LPC provider Kaplan Law School has signed up a second law firm for its bespoke course.
Kaplan, the London arm of Nottingham Law School, has struck a deal with Bird & Bird that will see all of the firm’s future trainees complete a firm-specific LPC from September 2009.
The move was welcomed the head of the law school Giles ;Proctor. ;“We’re obviously very pleased to get Bird & Bird on board. It’s a good validation of what we’ve been doing,” he said.
Since ;launching ;in London in September 2007, Kaplan had won just one LPC contract, with Mayer Brown. It missed out on the £15m City LPC consortium contract to rival BPP Law School.
Lynne Walters, graduate and trainee manager at Bird & Bird, said: “Kaplan wasn’t a big machine that was churning out trainees.”
Around 15 Bird & Bird trainees will start the Kaplan LPC next year.
