Two Addleshaw Goddard partners to face disciplinary tribunal

The SRA has referred two Addleshaw Goddard partners to the Solicitors’ Disciplinary Tribunal (SDT) following investigations into discrepancies relating to expenses and disbursements.

Real estate partner Emmett Peters and banking partner Dave Wilson are due to attend a case management hearing at the SDT on Tuesday (5 November).

The two are listed to appear with former Addleshaw Goddard commercial real estate partner Mark Gilbert, who resigned from the firm in May 2011 following an internal investigation into alleged discrepancies in his claims (30 May 2011).

In a statement the firm said that though inconsistencies relating to some of Peters’ and Wilson’s disbursements were identified during the course of investigating Gilbert, they were “unconnected”.

The firm added: “Our investigation satisfied us that those disbursements were properly incurred and that neither individual was dishonest or involved in any personal gain.”

Neither the SRA or Addleshaw Goddard were able to comment on why the unconnected discrepancies were scheduled to be heard at the same case management hearing, but the hearing is thought to be procedurally connected to the allegations against Gilbert in 2011.

Addleshaws said clients had not suffered any loss and relevant clients had been informed. The firm is not under investigation or the subject of any disciplinary action.

SRA in-house advocate Andrew Bullock will be presenting the case to the SDT.
