CUFF Roberts lawyer Tony Twemlow continues a long tradition for his firm as he takes over as president of Liverpool Law Society.
He is the fifth solicitor in the practice to lead the profession locally since joining the firm in 1965. Twemlow, a former treasurer and deputy president, takes the reins from Andrew Holroyd, of legal aid firm Jackson & Canter.
"Liverpool sees itself playing on a national stage and we will try to make a constructive input into all issues facing the profession at large," he says.
Twemlow, an insolvency practitioner, is a former chair of the national committee of the Young Solicitors Group. He also sat as a non-council member on the national society's remuneration and practice development committee.
Tom Roberts, former senior partner of Cuff Roberts, was president of the Liverpool society when Twemlow joined the practice in the mid-1960s.
Twemlow says: "It must be something in the ethos of the firm."
