TV’s Mr Nasty hires Angel for X Factor advice

The international growth of the X Factor and Got Talent formats has enabled TV’s Mr Nasty, Simon Cowell, to swim in piles of gold should he wish to.

But everything from the rider requirements of dancing dogs to the protection of IP rights means a lot of work has to be done behind the scenes in order to delight eight million couch potatoes every week.

Cue the aptly named Matthew Angel, who has just dropped in to the newly created head of legal and business affairs role at Syco. He’ll be a busy man for sure.

Starting at K&L Gates legacy firm Nicholson Graham & Jones and with a 10-year career at ITV under his belt, Angel was until now legal head at All3Media.

Cowell, the self-appointed saviour of Saturday night TV, no longer sits on the judging panel of the UK X Factor, but he’s probably picked another winner here.
