Turkish firm Bener acquires local rival Küçük

Turkey’s Bener Law Office has acquired local four-lawyer litigation boutique Küçük & Küçük Law Firm.

The arrival of Küçük founder Onur Küçük as a partner brings the partnership headcount to eight, with lawyer numbers increasing to 41.

Bener partner Erim Bener said the move strengthens the firm’s dispute resolution capabilities and is in line with its strategy of controlled growth.

Küçük was established in 2006 and since then has acted in local and cross border litigation, arbitration, non-performing loans and debt restructuring. Prior to setting up his firm Küçük was a manager for legal affairs at PricewaterhouseCoopers.

Bener is the Turkish member of employment network Ius Laboris.

The news follows the recent influx of international firms into Turkey. Baker & Mckenzie announced its plans to carve a slice of the action in October this year (27 October 2011), while German firm Graf von Westphalen and Austria’s Dorda Brugger Jordis preceded this move in September (5 September 2011).

Clifford Chance launched its Istanbul office in April (11 April 2011).
