Trowers promotions rise by 75 per cent

Trowers & Hamlins has increased the number of people promoted to its partnership by 75 per cent, making up seven new partners in this year’s round compared to four in 2008.

Four of the new partners are based in London, with one each in Manchester, Bahrain and Abu Dhabi.

The social housing group saw three promotions, all in the UK, and there are three new partners in corporate, with two of those in the Middle East. All new partners join the firm’s non-equity rung.

In 2007-08 Trowers’ social housing department and Middle East practice helped prop up revenues in a disappointing year which saw its average profit per equity partner drop eight per cent to £515,000.

In the 2008 promotions round, the firm made up just four associates, down from an all-time high of 15 in 2007. All the promotions were in the UK.

The new partners for 2009 are: Amy Shaw (pictured) (London), Kyle Holling (London) and Suzanne Benson (Manchester) in social housing; Rebecca Rees (London) in projects; and Charles Wilson (London), Bill Jeffries (Bahrain) and Guy Danalis (Abu Dhabi) in corporate.
