Trowers & Hamlins has teamed up with an environment research body and a quantity surveyor to address the potential impact of climate change in the construction industry.
Trowers construction partner Anthony Yates is working with the British Research Establishment (BRE) and Jackson Rowe Associates to discuss the potential legal impact of building and maintaining carbon-neutral property.
Yates said: "It's a discussion with the three bodies to look at how the industry will adapt to the way green issues have been incorporated into construction.
"The potential for greener materials and adhering more closely to environmental issues may well create a host of legal considerations."
As part of the discussion, Trowers, the BRE and Jackson Rowe are hosting a seminar and a series of workshops for market bodies to discuss topics such as cost and potential regulatory requirements.
