Trowers & Hamlins has bagged Pinsent Masons Birmingham construction head Vijay Bange for its London office as it bids to increase its contentious capability.
Bange joins Trowers' projects and construction team, which is made up of 12 partners and a total of 40 lawyers, split around 2:1 between the contentious and non-contentious sides.
Head of contentious construction Anthony Yates said: "We've seen a growth in the number of claims we've been asked to defend due to the climate we're in, as well as issues due to insolvency-related matters. Vijay fits the growing specific area of contractor clients."
Trowers has picked up a number of contractor clients in recent years, including Edmund Nuttall and Emcor, and is planning to grow this part of its client base.
Bange said: "Trowers has a credible international construction team - it's a good fit for my client following."
