Atlanta-headquartered Troutman Sanders has bagged five partners from Southern US rivals.
Two partners join the firm from Atlanta-based rival King & Spalding's New York and Atlanta offices, plus a partner each from Atlanta’s Alston & Bird and Morris Manning & Martin and one from Virginia-headquartered Hunton & Williams.
In New York the firm has bagged tax lawyer Philip Spector and corporate lawyer Craig Kline from King & Spalding to its structured finance group.
In Atlanta it has hired Alston tax lawyer Saba Ashraf and employee benefits and compensation lawyer Jeffery Banish from Morris Manning, who specialises in US pension law the Employee Retirement Income Security Act (Erisa). Finally, from Hunton securities lawyer Larry Schackelford joins the firm's securities and corporate governance group.
Troutman has offices in London, Hong Kong, Shanghai, Washington DC and the Southern US. It opened an office in New York in 2005 after securing the entire 91-lawyer Manhattan office of the now defunct Texan firm Jenkens & Gilchrist (The Lawyer, 14 March 2005). Including the new hires, it has 293 partners.
