The Lawyer Global Litigation Top 50 report is the only ranking of international law firms by litigation and arbitration revenue and is essential reading for anyone seeking to benchmark their litigation and dispute resolution practices...
This year, The Lawyer’s annual ranking of the largest UK law firms by turnover is available as an interactive, digital benchmarking tool. For the first time this will allow you to manipulate each data set against the metrics of your choice.
Skadden, Arps, Slate, Meagher & Flom has promoted a record number of partners to its London office this year, with three being made up out of a worldwide total of 25.
Last year the firm promoted two in London out of a total of 29, both of whom were in the corporate department, and the largest number the office had seen since 2003.
This year the firm is continuing its emphasis on promotions in the corporate and banking sectors, in line with its core practice areas. London saw the promotion of Michal Berkner (corporate) and Peter Coulton (banking). However, there was also a promotion within international arbitration - Bruce Macaulay.
Elsewhere, Brussels and Moscow bagged one each in the areas of competition and corporate finance respectively, but Asia failed to receive any promotions, after having three made up last year.
The remaining new partners were all in Canada and the US, with Chicago, New York and Washington DC receiving the lion's share.
This emphasis on the US, together with a lack of promotions in Asia, is in common with another US firm that announced its promotions this week - Hunton & Williams.
Skadden was unavailable for comment.
