This year, The Lawyer’s annual ranking of the largest UK law firms by turnover is available as an interactive, digital benchmarking tool. For the first time this will allow you to manipulate each data set against the metrics of your choice.
Linklaters has joined the YouTube revolution and added a plethora of social networking facilities to its graduate recruitment campaign.
The magic circle firm has created a Facebook page and Twitter account for future trainees to use as a virtual networking platform and to keep up to date with the latest news from the firm.
Would-be lawyers will now also be able to view video material including trainee profiles and promotional footage via YouTube.
Graduate recruitment partner Euan Clarke said: “We’ve always been frank and open about what people can expect at Linklaters so that candidates can make a sensible and informed decision before applying to us. Providing that information via media such as Facebook and Twitter is just another way to find and attract the very best candidates.”
The news comes after Linklaters ditched plans to scrap its graduate recruitment brochure in August after research revealed that students favour paper-based products over their online equivalents, as reported on Lawyer2B.com in August (read more).
But according to research carried out by Scottish law firm Tods Murray, 80 per cent of law students have reservations about applying for a job through social networking sites.
The research revealed that one of the main concerns is privacy and how employers could use social networking sites such as Facebook to view students’ pictures and other personal information.
But Clarke insisted that Linklaters will not be using its new Facebook page to view student profiles, saying instead it will be just another platform to scout out the top talent.
“In the time when I was applying for training contracts all you had was a brochure. It’s just a natural progression to start using other media,” said Clarke.
