Transport for London (TfL) legal chief Gareth John has launched a new networking group for in-house lawyers.
The group is aimed at public transport bodies and service providers. It already has 20 members from transport giants such as TfL, Eurotunnel, Network Rail, Exel and Arriva.
John, who is the director of legal and compliance at TfL, set up the group with Professor David Begg, a government adviser on integrated transport and the former chair of the Commission for Integrated Transport.
John said: "Transport's a complex and confusing area, in that it covers public law and private law and is local in terms of its business while being global in terms of climate change.
"But all of the organisations in the group have issues in common, so we think there's a value in getting together to talk about them."
The networking group met for the first time on 13 March at TfL panel firm Eversheds' London office.
