The Lawyer Global Litigation Top 50 report is the only ranking of international law firms by litigation and arbitration revenue and is essential reading for anyone seeking to benchmark their litigation and dispute resolution practices...
This year, The Lawyer’s annual ranking of the largest UK law firms by turnover is available as an interactive, digital benchmarking tool. For the first time this will allow you to manipulate each data set against the metrics of your choice.
Tony Blair's brother, William Blair QC of 3 Verulam Buildings (3vb), has been appointed a judge in the Queen's Bench Division of the High Court.
Nicholas Hill, senior practice manager at 3vb, said this is the set's second judicial appointment following the elevation of Ross Cranston QC to the bench earlier this year.
"His [Blair] appointment is the second for the set this year and we congratulate him and know that he will excel," said Hill. "We are, of course, sorry to see him leave chambers."
Blair was called to the bar in 1972, took silk in 1994 and became a recorder in 1998. He has notably been involved in the Zambia v Meer Care of Desai case, which was listed as one of the top trials of 2007 in The Lawyer.
The case, which saw Blair act as leading counsel for the Zambian Government, saw the English high court hold that the country's former president Frederick Chiluba and four of his senior aides conspired to rob their government and people of $46m (£23m).
The silk, along with Lord Woolf, also launched Qatar's first civil and commercial court in its drive to become one of the world's most prominent financial centres last May.
