Bath-headquartered Thring Townsend Lee & Pembertons has expanded its London base with the acquisition of private client boutique Leach & Co.
In May 2008 the firm unveiled an ambitious plan to more than double turnover within five years through strategic acquisitions. Those plans were put on hold when the recession hit and last February it set about cutting overheads by closing offices in Cirencester and Wiltshire, saving the firm £1m (The Lawyer, 16 February 2009).
This acquisition marks a planned resurgence for Thring Townsend and a renewed focus on growing the firm’s London presence.
Managing partner Thomas Sheppard said: “With the Government’s plans to liberalise the legal profession, it’s important to build strength in depth across all of our chosen specialist business areas.”
