Thirteen Old Square gains five tenants from rival sets

Five more tenants have joined Thirteen Old Square, bringing the total number to 19 after its launch in the summer.

Three of the new batch of tenants join from 11 New Square. They are Peter Castle, Stephen Lloyd and Michael Jefferis. The two other tenants, who have just completed pupillages, are Mungo Lowe from 4 New Square and Simon Olleson from Essex Court Chambers.

Thirteen Old Square’s founding member, John McDonnell QC, who formerly practised at 9 Stone Buildings, plans to hire 30 tenants in total. He was inspired to establish Thirteen Old Square, which was previously occupied by KSB Law, by two of his former clerks – Justin Brown, the new set’s senior clerk, and Warren Lee, its administrator.

Other senior members include Edward Bartley-Jones QC, who will work part time from Thirteen Old Square while continuing to head the commercial and chancery departments of Exchange Chambers in Liverpool.
