What was your first-ever job? Preparing deliveries from an off-licence during the pre-Christmas rush.
What was your worst experience as a trainee? Being very loudly chastised by a director of a client for asking him to sign a document that he didn't want to sign.
Where's the best place to go if you want to find out what's really going on in the office? The Christmas party or the firm's annual UK summer outing.
What time do you usually leave the office? Sevenish.
What do you do at weekends? Spend time with my wife, preferably at our cottage on the coast of Norfolk.
What's your favourite restaurant? Anywhere that serves a good curry - currently Shikara on Sloane Avenue, London.
If you weren't a lawyer, what would you have been? A wildlife photographer.

What's the best thing about your job? The development of the fantastic team I work with.
What's the toughest thing about your job? Managing expectations, both of clients and colleagues.
What's your biggest work/career mistake and what did you learn from it? Putting a client's bet on the wrong horse at Sandown as a junior lawyer. The horse he had asked me to back won, and so I learnt that listening is critical.
