What time do you usually leave the office? Sadly, not early enough.
What do you do at weekends? Ferry my kids to sporting venues, watch them play and, with luck, then get to play myself.
What's your favourite restaurant? Chops City Grill in Naples, Florida.
If you weren't a lawyer, what would you have been? History teacher.
Who was your mentor or role model? Peter Morley Jacob, who offered me articles at Slaughter and May in 1971 and who I still see on the golf course.
What's the best thing about your job? Being able to say yes.
What's the toughest thing about your job? Often having to say no.
What's your biggest work/career mistake and what did you learn from it? Going for the pragmatic solution to a particular issue and learning that, sometimes, pragmatism only leads to problems being resolved temporarily or deferred rather than being permanently and immediately resolved.
What car(s) do you drive? VW Golf Plus.
What book are you currently reading? Alistair Cooke's Letter from America: 1946-2004.
