The Lawyer Global Litigation Top 50 report is the only ranking of international law firms by litigation and arbitration revenue and is essential reading for anyone seeking to benchmark their litigation and dispute resolution practices...
This year, The Lawyer’s annual ranking of the largest UK law firms by turnover is available as an interactive, digital benchmarking tool. For the first time this will allow you to manipulate each data set against the metrics of your choice.
What was your first-ever job? Working behind the bar in my father's restaurant in Piccadilly.
What was your worst experience as a trainee? Having to serve eviction notices in person on 10 families living in the grounds of a country house because the religious retreat they were on had ceased operation.
Where's the best place to go if you want to find out what's really going on in the office? My office manager's office, as the walls between it and the staff kitchen are paper thin.
What time do you usually leave the office? Right after the third call from my daughter wanting to know what time I'll be home.
What do you do at weekends? Family, friends, food, drink, swimming and tennis.
What's your favourite restaurant? Topo Gigio in Piccadilly, which is now run by my two brothers, and Le Due Spade, which is in a small town named Bardi near Parma in Italy.
If you weren't a lawyer, what would you have been? A musician - keyboard or trombone - or an actor.
Who was your mentor or role model? My parents, my music teacher at school and my first boss when I became an assistant in the corporate department at Gamlens in Lincoln's Inn.
What's the best thing about your job? The diversity and the daily challenge. I enjoy the mix of client work and management and, with the odd exception, I like meeting the people I get involved with during the course of a day's work.
What's the toughest thing about your job? Juggling priorities and getting everything done before the third telephone call from my daughter.
What's your biggest work/career mistake and what did you learn from it? Not returning 'that phone call' quickly enough.
What car(s) do you drive? A BMW convertible - a recent and, so I'm told by most people in the office, mid-life crisis acquisition.
What book are you currently reading? Father Frank by Paul Burke.
What's on your CD player at the moment? In Between Dreams by Jack Johnson.
What's your favourite children's book? The Famous Five Big Book - three great stories for the price of one.
