What was your first-ever job? Office boy at a firm of estate agents in the summer holidays.
What was your worst experience as a trainee? At my first Christmas party I cheerfully marched up and ordered a drink from what turned out to be a partner and a senior associate. My grovelled apology and defence that I'd never met them before, that they were in black skirts and white blouses and that they were standing on the wrong side of the bar failed to prevent a predictably furious reaction and a complaint to my supervising partner. It still makes me cringe.
Where's the best place to go if you want to find out what's really going on in the office? We're such a small outfit that I'd like to think I already know.
What time do you usually leave the office? In time to put my children to bed.
What do you do at weekends? Spend time with my family, eat and drink too much, sing Schubert badly.
What's your favourite restaurant? The Seven Stars on Carey Street, round the back of the Royal Courts of Justice.
If you weren't a lawyer, what would you have been? Doing something very similar to my current job.
Who was your mentor or role model? My father.
What's the best thing about your job? I meet great people, do genuinely interesting work and get a tremendous feeling of satisfaction as the business grows.
What's the toughest thing about your job? It's a huge risk, I'm always thinking about work, and if my computer dies I can't just pick up the phone and have someone from IT resuscitate it.
What's your biggest work/career mistake and what did you learn from it? Not setting up RollOnFriday two years earlier, catching the dotcom boom and making squillions. Timing is everything.
What car do you drive? A black Mercedes.
What book are you currently reading? Found you, little wombat! to my one-year-old son.
What's on your CD player at the moment? Ian Bostridge singing Die Schöne Müllerin.
What's your favourite children's book? The Wind In The Willows. I've always envied Toad his lifestyle.
