Ever a catalyst of progress in the legal world, City firms took note of The Lawyer's In-House Interview last month (24 July), in which Bristol City Council legal head Stephen McNamara took a swipe at their macho, long-hours culture.
But one firm rejected the charge entirely. So sure, in fact, of its innocence is a senior partner at the unnamed firm, that he has invited McNamara to spend a day in its London office, offering one of his own partners as a swopsie.
"Its a serious offer," he explained to McNamara in his invitation email, "but we are just about macho enough to take a rejection..."
