Kenneth Ross was born in Glasgow on 30 September 1958. He is head of the business law division at Bishop and Robertson Chalmers.

What was your first job?

Assistant on an archaeological dig.



What was your first ever salary as a lawyer?

£3,250 per annum.



What would you have done if you hadn't become a lawyer?

Archaeologist.



Which law could you live without?

Part II A of The Environmental Protection Act 1990 (Contaminated Land).



What was your most embarrassing professional moment?

While an apprentice I borrowed a partner's car and returned it with a large dent in it. I had to explain that a van had reversed into me while I sat frantically washing the car's windows in the mistaken belief I was sounding the horn.



What car do you drive?

Vauxhall Cavalier with large dents and very clean windows (see above).



Which famous person would you like to go out with?

Posh Spice.



Where would you go to eat?

Any Glasgow curry restaurant.



What's the best thing on TV?

Inspector Morse.



Which movie do you wish you'd appeared in?

Men in Black.



What's your most often-worn piece of clothing?

My Levi's.



What book(s) are you reading at the moment?

Time to Depart by Lindsey Davis and The Winter King by Bernard Cornwell.



What is your all-time favourite record?

Every Breath You Take by the Police.



What piece of advice would you give to anyone entering the profession now?

Find a specialism the public is convinced is worth paying for.



What do you like about yourself?

My ability to see both sides of an argument.



What do you hate about yourself?

The fact I am going bald.

On Splash Mountain, Disney World, Florida with my wife and daughters.
