What was your first job?
Deck chair attendant, Blackpool.
What was your first ever salary as a lawyer?
£400 a year as an articled clerk.
What would you have done if you hadn't become a lawyer?
But for lack of talent, I would have been an international footballer.
Which law could you live without?
Law of Property (Miscellaneous Provision) Act 1994 which caused chaos where only peace and tranquillity existed before.
What was your most embarrassing professional moment?
As an articled clerk, being told in open court by a newly-appointed County Court Judge (as they were then) to go back to my firm and stop wasting the court's time - I've not been keen on litigation ever since.
