Jacqueline Bore is a solicitor at City firm Theodore Goddard. She switched from the medical profession in 1990, after working as a GP in London. Born in Hull in 1958, she now lives in Blackheath, London.



What was your first job?

Au pair in Fontainbleau near Paris and Alpe d'Huez.



What was your first ever salary as a lawyer?

£17,500.



What would you have done if you hadn't become a lawyer?

Remained a doctor.



Which law could you live without?

The National Health Service and Community Care Act 1990.



What was your most embarrassing professional moment?

Absent mindedly undressing a middle-aged executive attending an insurance examination, having spent the afternoon undressing babies in a baby clinic.



What car do you drive?

MGB roadster.



Which famous person would you like to go out with?

David Gower.



Where would you go to eat?

Take a picnic to Glyndebourne.



What's the best thing on TV?

The Magic Roundabout.



Which movie do you wish you'd appeared in?

The Last of the Mohicans (where are those wonderful forests?)



What's your most often-worn piece of clothing?

My red duffle coat.



What book(s) are you reading at the moment?

Spot's First Christmas; The Road to Wigan Pier, George Orwell.



What is your all-time favourite record?

Elgar Cello Concerto, played by Paul Tortelier.



What piece of advice would you give to anyone entering the profession now?

Acknowledge that you are fortunate to have a choice about what you do. Cynicism is an unattractive and self-indulgent trait.



What do you like about yourself?

My patience with children and partners.



What do you hate about yourself?

My nose.



Where would you most like to be right now?

At the seaside with Pascal and his bucket and spade.
