Anne Harvey was born in Glasgow in 1959. She lives in Oxfordshire and is research manager for Holiday Which? magazine in London, where she has developed the coverage of legal issues.
What was your first job?
Filing clerk at the firm where I became a partner.

The Act of Union, 1707.
What was your most embarrassing professional moment?
Moving a motion at the AGM of the Law Society of Scotland that was critical of the society's handling of reports on consumer complaints by the (then) Lay Observer. I got all of two votes (and an approving mention in Private Eye!)
What car do you drive?
I drive, mostly, a Mazda 323. I own a Nissan Sunny.
Which famous person would you like to go out with?
Ian Hamilton QC, the man who temporarily liberated the Stone of Destiny from Westminster Abbey in 1950.
Where would you go to eat?
One Devonshire Gardens, Glasgow.
What's the best thing on TV?
The High Life. Oh, dearie me!
Which movie do you wish you'd appeared in?
What's your most often-worn piece of clothing?
Timberland shoes (the travel writer's best friend).
What book(s) are you reading at the moment?
The Devil's Carousel by Jeff Torrington; Walter Scott and Scotland by Paul H Scott; Hippie Hippie Shake by Richard Neville.

Nice Work If You Can Get It, by Ella Fitzergerald.
What piece of advice would you give to anyone entering the profession now?
Finish your articles then look outside. There's more to life than conveyancing and legal aid divorces.
What do you like about yourself?
Being what my primary school teacher described shortly before retiring as "the most stubborn child I ever taught". Like Robert the Bruce, I never give up.
What do you hate about yourself?
Not having been involved in a plot to 're-liberate' the Stone of Destiny before they decided to give it back to us!

Speaking at the opening of an independent Scottish Parliament.
