If there’s one thing that our friends in the North are famed for, it’s plain speaking.
Especially when they want to let you know they’re not happy. The Glazers, owners of Manchester United know this, and so now does Addleshaw Goddard’s management team.
Addleshaws chiefs planned on having a vote on a radical new remuneration structure for equity partners, at a partnership meeting last Friday. Alas, it was never to be. An outline of the changes was circulated round the partnership days before the meeting and it received such a ferocious barrage of criticism that the plans were taken off the meeting agenda (see story).
London partners were no doubt vocal in opposition too, but sources suggest that the most persuasive malcontents were at the firm’s regional offices, in Leeds and Manchester.
