Paul Daniels eat your heart out. At a Latham & Watkins client's party last week, the star attraction was a magician who wowed the audience with mesmerising card tricks. One wonders about the philosophy behind this move, because let's face it, the marketing department must have come up with something. Something to do with its lawyers' ability to pull rabbits out of hats, one supposes. Or maybe it represents the number of short balding men in the office with blonde wives named Debbie.
In any event, it went down a storm, and certainly a little better than the Lathams lawyer who persisted in trying to tempt his guests – including members of The Lawyer's editorial team – to join him in a post-party trip to a lap dancing bar. Perhaps he was in need of some guidance to find his rabbit.
