  • Why is Linklaters doing the high end finance work for Thames when there is this 'exclusive' contract?

  • A cracking read here - so funny in so many ways especially when one knows the individuals and the backstory. Given the column inches these guys generate I liked the non ironic "in our own quiet way". Also loving the references to "de-lawyering"; if that's what Thames want, they've certainly come to the right place! Problem for BP is that "de-lawyering" isn't planned as it seems to be something that just happens to them. A lot.

  • MLS is an unstable business idea which unless capped/fitted with an escape valve is too risky for law firms. If capped then you would be better off with in house staff. Euphemisms like de-lawyering are potentially worryingly-like quality reductions. The worst thing about this is the way the actual lawyers are treated - part of an outsourcing component with minimal upside. Victorian law.
