Telecity coup sees Reed Smith pick up new client

Reed Smith finance ­partner Phillip Slater has won the firm a new client by securing the mandate on TelecityGroup’s £200m ­refinancing.

Slater, who moved from Addleshaw Goddard to head the US firm’s London general finance department in November last year, had a longstanding relationship with the premium data centre provider.

“This is a terrific result on a strategically important deal for a new client,” said Slater. “It underpins our ability to secure new ­relationships and deliver results based on our quality, commitment and market knowledge.”

Speaking about the transaction’s financing, he added: “Obviously it’s good to get this away with four banks. They did well to get all four to be joint arrangers.”
