Crabtree, an international insurance coverage disputes specialist, resigned in January and an internal announcement was made to staff at Pinsents earlier this month.
It is understood that Crabtree has a 12-month notice period and is currently negotiating the terms of his departure with senior management at the firm. Taylor Wessing is understood to be keen to bring forward Crabtree's start date.
The departure will be a significant loss for Pinsents, as Crabtree is widely recognised as a star lawyer within the insurance and reinsurance sector. Last year he led his team in a major US dispute that arose between Konkola Copper Mines and Coromin.
