Taylor Wessing has looked to rival firms SJ Berwin and Squire Sanders Hammonds as it continues the expansion of its IP practice.
SJ Berwin partner Chris Thornham will join in early July. He has led high value patent litigation cases for clients around the world and gained first-hand experience of US patent law through a period working in Washington DC and California.
Taylor Wessing UK patents head Simon Cohen said in a statement: “As a team we’re seeing explosive growth in patent litigation across all the sectors, with turnover up over 20 per cent this year. Chris will be a real asset and will strengthen our team further.”
Thornham’s hire comes alongside that of Squire Sanders commercial and dispute resolution partner Tracey Sheehan, who will be joined by associate Rebecca Clarke.
