Taylor Wessing sets up Brazil unit to target BRIC work

Taylor Wessing has launched a Brazil group run out of Hamburg and London to focus on the dealflow between Brazil, Europe, China and India, and has hired a senior counsel from a São Paulo firm to co-head the practice.

Corporate lawyer Daniel Coelho Moreira, who joined from Pinheiro Neto Advogados, will run the group alongside competition and disputes partner Jan Curschmann.
The firm had already appointed ’territory partners’ to explore options in the Bric jurisdictions of Brazil, Russia, India and China. Last week it announced an alliance with Singapore firm RHT Law as the first step to a full office launch.

Other group members include London corporate partner Richard Bursby, who is the Brazil territory partner, Hamburg corporate partner Holger Schrewe, Paris corporate finance partner Nicolas de Witt and recent Munich corporate recruit Stefan Kroeker.
