Taylor Wessing on the hunt for French merger

Luckily for Taylor Wessing, Kahn & Associés, its main referral firm in France (along with Sokolow Dunaud Mercadier & Carreras), is in the market for a merger.

Last year Kahn was on the verge of a tie-up with US firm Squire Sanders & Dempsey (The Lawyer, 18 November 2002), but that deal is now believed to be on the rocks.

The Lawyer understands that three of Kahn's 10 partners have already approached a number of Paris firms as they are not happy with the idea of Squire Sanders.

Kahn founding partner Daniel Kahn said no decision had been made, but the firm had been looking to expand internationally for some time.

"We're a very international business and we know a lot of people. We've been talking to a number of firms and have a good relationship with both Squire Sanders, Taylor Wessing and others," he said.
