Taylor Wessing's German co-head of competition is leaving the firm with another two Düsseldorf-based partners to start up their own corporate and commercial boutique.
Co-head of competition Markus Wirtz and corporate partners Achim Glade and Arndt Michel, who joined the firm in 2003 from Hengeler Mueller, will set up Glade Michel Wirtz, although the timing of their departures has yet to be finalised with Taylor Wessing's management.
Taylor Wessing German managing partner Wolfgang Rehmann - also a competition partner by practice - told German magazine Juve that the firm respected the trio's decision to move on and that it wished the spin-off the best of luck in a competitive market.
The move comes after a 22-lawyer departure from Taylor Wessing's Berlin office following a raid by US firm K&L Gates last December (The Lawyer, 13 December 2006).
The six partners and 16 lawyers who left included teams from real estate and corporate.
