South East law firm Taylor Walton has triumphed in a beauty parade to provide legal services to Timpson, the shoe repair and key-cutting chain.
The firm beat four other firms to supply all contentious and non-contentious commercial property advice to the retailer, which has 550 retail outlets.
The pitch was led by Taylor Walton's head of commercial property Angela Thomas.
Tricia Davis, head of estates at Timpson, told The Lawyer: "About six or nine months ago I decided to review our outsourcing partner for the commercial property work and we invited five firms to pitch." She declined to name the other firms.
Firms were asked to quote on a fixed-fee basis, but Davis also wanted get an idea of the firms' cultures and met all the prospective advisers at their offices during the pitch process. "We wanted to see them in their own surroundings and get an idea of their team spirit," said Davis.
Taylor Walton has more than 200 employees spread across three offices.
