Taylor, Jonathan – Hot 100

Jonathan Taylor is Hammonds’ head of sport and one of the few lawyers in the sector who really enjoys breaking new ground in an area that is still getting used to being a business.

The (relative) lack of hooliganism at the European Football Championship was a relief to governing body Uefa. Taylor was responsible for an innovative scheme that controlled the flow of tickets and made sure they did not get into the wrong hands. He is now looking to repeat this at the 2008 World Cup.

In the new year, Taylor will be busy with the commercial arrangements for the British Lions rugby tour. But the headline-grabber will be an unprecedented legal action for Chelsea FC as it tries to win compensation for the loss of Adrian Mutu, who was sacked after failing a drugs test. Mutu has since been banned from playing for seven months.
