A bevvy of Tulkinghorn's scribes found themselves under the hallowed arches of one of London's better-known wine-tasting venues recently to go head-to-head in a sampling competition with a crack team of oenophiles from Berwin Leighton Paisner (BLP).
Tulkinghorn's tasters were slightly thrown off guard by BLP fielding a teetotaller in the shape of head of technology Adam Rose. Witnesses can attest that Rose did indeed spit during the tasting, in stark contrast to Tulkinghorn's team.
It was a closely fought battle, but it will come as no surprise that the journalists won the alcohol-based challenge. Indeed, one of Tulkinghorn's scribes gained a perfect score in the blind-tasting competition. Rose, no doubt, scored better in the hangover contest the following morning.
