The Law Society and 18 large law firms are launching a taskforce to encourage the entire UK legal profession to take action on climate change.
The Legal Sector Alliance (LSA) has finalised a carbon footprint protocol and practical guidance to enable firms of all sizes to reduce their carbon footprints and adopt environmentally sustainable practices by engaging with suppliers and clients.
DLA Piper joint CEO Nigel Knowles, who is one of the LSA's founding members, said it would be fantastic if 90 per cent of the profession could embrace the initiative, from small regional firms to the very largest.
"We ;need ;to ;change people's habits, not the climate," he added.
On 1 May the LSA will be present at the HRH The Prince of Wales' May Day business summit, which was the original inspiration for the initiative in 2007.
