Niche IT firm Tarlo Lyons has made six members of staff redundant in response to the slowdown in technology work.
Three of the six are fee-earners, the rest are support staff, and there are signs that this could be only one part of a wider downsizing initiative. Managing partner Nigel McEwan said that the firm has placed a recruitment freeze on junior assistants. "We're looking for senior lawyers and carrying on with trainee recruitment, but we're not looking at newly to three-year qualified associates at the moment," he said. He added: "Looking at the number of CVs on the market from technology firms, we're by no means the worst. There's a downturn in this sector, and although it's affecting us less than some, we have to bear it in mind."
