Post-BBC, Angus Deayton must be short of a bob or two, because he turned up to do the after dinner speech at last week's British Venture Capital Association (BVCA) dinner. Given his recent antics with ladies of the night and the white stuff, the audience gave him a rougher ride than at The Lawyer Awards in July. But things could have been worse - apparently the BVCA had been plagued with calls from the News of the World wanting to buy a table at the Grosvenor House event - at any price. It seems, though, that venture capitalists have enough money, as all requests were politely declined.
